If I were to have to pick out two favorite songs from this album it would have to be "A Breath From Worlds Beyond" for it's awesome intro with awesome vocals and agressive raw feeling and "Spektrale Shattenlichter" For it's mindsweeping acoustic guitar sections. Awesome...

I only recently got Nachthymnen, (don't ask me why I took so long to get this masterpiece) and it's possible that I could end up liking it more than I like Opus IV, once I fully get into it. I have to say though that Opus IV is one of the most incredible, innovative albums I've ever heard, and the best that I've heard from Abigor. It seems to be divided into two separate parts, each consisting of four songs. The first four songs are what we've come to expect from Abigor: harsh, raw and fast, but beautiful and melancholic at the same time, with each song ebbing and flowing and reaching climaxes.

The next four songs are even more incredible than the first four; the band manages to create almost a space-age atmosphere, but without using any of those cheesy sounding synths (eg. Satyricon-Supersonic Journey). They actually manage to do this with the addition of acoustic instruments, and by making the production muddier. To fully understand how they do this, you really need to hear the album; my words aren't adequate to describe the brilliance behind this album. Maybe the phrase "Horns lurk beyond the stars" will help sum up the ideology behind this release. This album is a must-have for lovers of innovative black metal.

This album contains some very interesting and catchy riffs. Its biggest downfall though is the production. Some of the songs are very muffled, which kind of takes away from the album a bit, but nevertheless this is still my favourite Abigor album due to the awesome and inspiring riffage and guitar work.

fucking great album!!!... one of the best hyperblast black metal!!!, although ABIGOR isn´t so commercial, they are so fucking great... true black metal, so convincent, chaotic riffs, chaotic drumms, allucinating keyboards, true feeling darkness... Hail ABIGOR, true black metal!!!
