apparantly the prison staff took away varg's guitar in fear that he would kill ppl with the strings so here we have some happy keyboard tunes about the coming of ragnorok but it aint that bad actually, best album i have heard that was recorded in a prison cell

The story of Balders has played a major in the creation of this album, An excelent potray of what the music may have been

I love this one, dark and scary in a way.Very simple tunes played in a vary simple way, but that makes this album great. It sounds like some occultic mass or something...

This album is strange, but very good.I love this depresive melodies!!

Review by: kverd

Strange melodies, of course...
Come on! There is not one interesting
melody. Is it really that hard to understand?
Varg is not metal anymore, his keyboard music is shit,
just be honest - this album is junk!

this albim represents a strong turn in the music works of Varg. it is no longer black metal , but ambienthal neo folk witch he made rather good considering that this was his first album like this . there is no band to whom i can compare this
anyway to shorten this
THIS IS SO STRANGE THAT YOU HAVE TO GET IT!!!

Excellent ambient music! I really like the unique pagan atmosphere of this album. Hlišskjįlf is also good, but i think this is better, as there are no weak songs here at all.

Very moving...

I love all of the songs on this, some can be very depressing, but it's all relaxing, great, very ambient and really talented. Varg is a musical genius, no matter what he has done, and how bad he "sucked" at bass when he was in Mayhem for a short while, Burzum's music shall always be supreme.

This is the first ambient album from Burzum. It was recorded in prison with a cheap synthesizer, but I have to say that this cd is pretty good. "Dauši Baldrs" (translates to "the death of Balder", Balder is the Viking god of purity, one of Wotan's sons) contains six repetitive and monotonous songs, but each one with its specific mood. Every song is a part of the story of Balder: he dies, killed by his blind brother Hadnur, deceived by the evil demigod Loki(Dauši Baldrs, a haunting and strange song, with a dreaming and medieval atmosphere), Hermodr goes to hell to try to rescue Balder (Hermošr į Helferš, a simple and short track), there is the funeral of Balder (Bįlferš Baldrs, a long and repetitive medieval tune). The only way to bring Balder back to life is that all the living cry for Balder (I Heimr Heljar, a fast and violent song), but a giantess, Thanks, refuses to do it (Illa Tišandi, a very sad and long track).
The last song, Móti Ragnarokum, is about the Ragnarok, the twilght of the gods. This is, in my opinion, the best song of the album, with a romantic and melancholic atmosphere.
Slightly worse than other Burzum releases, but a great album anyway. I would give this cd 88/100

In my opinio this album sucks beyond any limit. Shitty sound shitty melodies who are so fucking boooring . How can you say this is a good album? I can't find one decent song that sicks out. Sure it's ok judging by the fact it was recorded in prison but how the fuck can you say it a brilliant album? If you want to listen to depressing ambiental music search the fucking web . This is pure junk so if you're not a fan-boy of burzum don't buy it.

shame to those who can't accept or understand this album.
Of course this is not what practically someone would expect from burzum but it is still awsome on its own way, we have to accept it.
IMHO the 3 and 6th songs are the best in this album
i give this album 8,9/10

Although many people were dissapointed by this burzum album, I think it's one of their best. At least one of the best Varg wrote when he was in prison. Hlidskjalf has the same style but in my opinion it's not like this. What if the music sounds like a poor midi file. The atmosphere is great while thinking the composer playing these tracks in his cell... Listen to Hermodr A Helferd track and maybe you'll get the point...

Maybe I can do better with a casio keyboard. But I must admit the atmosphere is very cool.

In this album Varg has really showed that it is possible to make a great album without any drums, guitar and any other instruments expect keyboard for that matter.
I“m looking forward to enjoy new albums by Varg (if he just doesn“t stop making music because of some "hail Burzum"-idiots). I see no problem in that he uses keyboard either. If You want Varg to make new album, then support him by buying his albums. This "new" music is as good as his older albums. It is the same Burzum-feeling and if you can“t accept his new style, you shouldn“t really listen to his older albums either.
Have a ride in the woods on the night while listening to burzum-music and you will for sure experience new emotionals.
10/10

Burzum - Daudi Baldrs
---------------------

This isn't one of the first Burzum albums i ever listened too. I've listened to Filosofem and the self-titled album first.

I must say i found this was a disappointment in music, but interesting anyway.

It is interesting to see that Varg recalled some melodies from previous albums. But what's most interesting is to see that he is not used to making completely instrumental music without guitars, drums or bass whatsoever. You can really see that this is the mere beginning of his metamorphosis.

Musically, i don't like it because of the endlessly repeated melodies for which Burzum seems to be known. On previous albums he already did it but here, he's going to far.
The same melody for over 10 minits just doesn't go (not for me anyway).

If you want the better part of Varg's instrumental music you should get Hlidskjalf, which shows actual songs instead of just one melody 10 minits long.

This is the (musically) uninteresting start of the metamorphosis. It starts to get good on Hlidskjalf.
