Huh, many people love this album. But sorry folks, I'm going to have to say this is there worst, they didn't really develop their talent for this album. One of the band members even claimed that they probably wouldn't have released it if they had their ideas from BAB at the time.
just not good, but i like 3 songs so 3/10

I first heard about Cannibal Corpse from a friend at school. They were talking and her boyfriend said, "i listen to cannibal corpse and i dont get all weird and want to think about death." After hearing that i had to give them a listen. I wanted to listen to Cannibal Corpse when they were at their most original state so i picked their first album Eaten Back To Life. The lyrics are very gorey hehe, just last night i was listening to it and looking at Rotten.com HAHA. Anyways, its a great speedy album, Barnes the singer may be just screaming but he has alot of talent.

chris barnes sounds like a broken car motor, good thing george fisher took over for burnout barnes lame excuse for vocals that sound like a cookie monster. p.s cannibal corpse fans and non cannibal corpse fans check out the 2004 cd (the wretched spawn) it is cannibal corpse best, and in my opinion the only c.c. cd worth owning

This is a great album. Even way back in 1990, Cannibal Corpse kicked ass! This blows the bloody chunks right off something like Metallica and shit. Way to go!

Not a bad CD, it's just that there was bad production and bad song writing. "Skull Full Of Maggots" and "Buried In The Backyard" had good riffs. Nothing but average.

BEHOLD THE BEGINNING==I got a promo of this in 1990 while working at a record store. I took to it pretty fast, because I really liked "Scream Bloody Gore," and though SBG is mostly thrash, there is plenty of thrash to be found on this album. Barnes voice was more of a hoarse croak at this point, but it fits the music really well. And yes, as many people have pointed out, this albums lyrics are just....bad at times. The riffs here are good, and the bass and drums sound nicely tight. But if you listen to the demo versions of these same songs you will see how CC grew as songwriters buy converting some of the 2 minute and under tracks into into more streamlines thrashy death metal. 'Course Skull full o' maggots stayed the same. Standouts: skull full of maggots, Edible autopsy, Shredded humans, Born in a casket.
