I havn't heard much from Nymphetamine, but I have heard the Guilded Cunt MP3 and it is absolutely appauling how bad it is. This little clip is an example of what degenerating effects a record label can have on a bands sanity. The lyrical content to this song has very little thought put into it and has no intellectual basis. The refrain of "Cuuuuuunt...Guilded Cuuuuunt" makes my ears twitch in pain and anguish. These lyrics definitely do not compare to the lyrics of Cruelty or Dusk in any manner. As far as I'm concerned this band has proggressed to "nu metal" status.

Well, i'm not a big CoF fan (since Dusk) but i can compare musically this album to this album, yet in more brutal form. For me - one of the best albums of the year
I think that if the vocal parts of Dani were like they used to be before it would have been an absoultely masterpiece...but very sad the screams (or whatever they are) pisses me off in most of the time
BUT THE MUSIC IS FUCKING BRILLIANT !
Gilded Cunt, Nymphetamine, Swansong for a Raven - really great stuff

90/100

When I first heard the Nymphetamine promo, I was like "what are these shitheads up to now?" After years of being totally commercial, they reached Sony Music and released "Damnation And A Day". At least now there is some good news - Cradle showed the finger to Sony and joined Roadrunner. But the band will never get back to brutality.
I now have the whole album, before it's out, and I can say tey've done much better than these fucking jaws blessing christianity. And how about the shitty towelheads in Midian?
So, a lot of new riffs and much less keyboards in most of the tracks. Which is good. So, excluding the almost 10-minute "Nymphetamine Overdose" with the female vocals (should be growling), Cradle delivers a pretty good record. Most songs are a lot heavier than the previous album. Once again we have some heavy metal, mixed with black and a bit of death. But what is original about Nymphetamine is that it applies more thrash influences and forms a new dimension to Dan-Dan's fucking music. So, if Cradle remove the keyboards in the next few years and play some brutal music with raw vocals, I'll be more than satisfied with them.
About the tracks. Gilded Cunt, Medusa And Hemlock, and Mother Of Abominations are pretty cool.
Now I will go on and listen to some Hatebreed, Earth Crisis or Stampin' Ground.

What the hell is this. He said that it would be a mix of Cruelty and Midian. Hell freakin no! it's alot worse than damnation and a day! they choosed the worst person to mix their record, and too overly productive.

remember the traditional shrieking the singer does? well it's long gone, but gives an essence a bit. now he sings quite rough now, and the guitar riffs....damn, when i heard the guitar riffs.....it's over, they gone too mainstream, and you cannot label these guys as gothic or black metal no more.

keyboards are hardly ever used as much anymore.

sorry, but 2/10 i give this. their older stuff before Cradle and the Enslaved were the best. this is their worst effort to go mainstream and attract the kiddies.

don't EVER label these guys as black or gothic metal anymore

Well I don’t know but, I think that, Cradle Of Filth, will never, ever been again what they once were, Dani’s voice is gone for good, I think that they now are a little bit of gothic, and in this album they have invited Liv Kristine, the ex-vocal of Theatre Of Tragedy, and also now they have put piano too, this album seams like, a black metal with huge influences of gothic metal, they have became, less aggressive, more melodic, less voices too, the album is not bad, is this were the first album of Cradle, because, actually it has a very good sound, but, if we listen to what were cradle, and what now cradle is… it’s a little bit sad, they have come to this point, but, this album Is good.

I give this album a solid 8 out of 10. It's a very good record, but I didn't like it as much as Damnation and a Day, and of course it's nowhere near the level of the classics. Just to be different, I like some of the "lighter" stuff. My favorites are Absinthe with Faust, English Fire, and Swansong for a Raven. Nymphetamine's good too, if only because it's good to hear Liv-Kristine singing something other than that electro-pop crap Theatre of Tragedy's doing now.

Cradle of Filth is by no means Black metal. Maybe they used to be, but even that may be a stretch. Maybe also they're moving towards Nu metal (I can kinda see it...) but I think they would still be most accurately classified as Gothic metal.

after a very poor "dmanation and a day" here´s now a tragical out of inspiration opus "nymphetamine" for the masses and new metallica´s fans...
1/10 (for the original and captive title ONLY)

i found this to be a fairly average album. there were a few good songs like nymphetamine and medusa & hemlock, but other wise i recommend you have listen to it before you buy it.

After bouncing back from a mediocre album (Bitter Suites) that was originally supposed to be an EP but became an LP with Damnation & A Day, Cradle Of Filth kick Sony in the pants for reasons no one may ever know and sign with RR. This seems to be a good move, however the result is not up to COF standards. The musicianship as far as guitar riffs, keyboard lines, and vocals are all fine (but where's that trademark banshee shriek of yours, Dani? Seems to be quite absent on this album). But the lyrics are far removed from the poetic genious of albums like Vampire or Dusk. Dani decides to bring back chorous lines like they had in Bitter Suites, and not only that, repeat them several times more? WTF??? I'm not so sure it was fully his decision and Roadrunner didn't have something to do with it. Whatever the reason, I have no problem with the music on here. It's the lyrics and FREAKIN REPEATED CHORUSES DO NOT BELONG IN COF TUNES CONSIDERING HOW MUCH OF A GREAT LYRICAL POET YOU ARE, DANI. YOU'RE BETTER THAN THAT.

6/10

I think that this album is an average metal stuff. Not too bad , not too good ,there are interesting parts and there are a lot of boring , so this is a little bit sad 'cuz Damnation And A Day was a very good album , in my opinion . Nemesis,Gabrielle,Medusa & Hemlock and Nymphetamine are very good songs , but the others are quite boring. Not worth to buy it. It is 5.5/10 pts.

Nymphetamine is by far one of the best albums I have ever heard. I just started getting into COF and Nymphetamine was the first album I bought and I loved it. Awesome album.

I shall start this review by saying that Midian was the album that really got me into Cradle of Filth's followers path thus, their releases ever since pleased me in a high level, so i really enjoyed this last album.
Although, i'm actually writing this humble review, which is nothing more than a humble opinion, while listening to the marvellous Dusk And Her Embrace, so i really need to say that i understand perfectly the pure black metallers point of view... This is definitely not a black metal album, just as Damnation And A Day wasn't and perhaps Midian already wasn't...Where are the gloomy lyrics and the cold sense of a sibilant breeze upon our backs isn't that so?

this cd "NYMPHETAMINE" is one of the bestest in my opinion that they had come out with yet-

finally CoF has reached to the U.S.,which is the place of consumerism and CoF signed one of the most important label Roadrunner in the metal genre (Soulfly, Sepultura, Fear Factory, Slipknot . . . etc. ) CoF has a wonderful style for United States to be in the circle of consumerism. Dani is as the charismatic leader of the band. goth paint, dark lyrics and different music for U.S. U.S. people loves exaggerating things. Maybe the CoF is their new victim cause they are starting to get bored with manson ( look what they done to Manson and Manson become a millionare )
they have the same figure like manson but dani and his friends must use their image very carefully in order to have a huge cribs, cars and million dollars. That's what they want starting from their midian album. aw album review
album is made for this circumstances that I 've talked about previous lines. U.S. friendly (MTV friendly) songs somehow they are trying to say to U.S. that we are as agressive or much more agressive than slipknot or others.
and a commercial Beauty and the beast song featuring Liv Kristine. I love Kristine's voice and also Dani's voice good combination for selling the album. so this album is nothing but a commercial album. Album is listenable not bad but I prefer to listen dusk or cruelty. Good luck CoF in the road of America.

Mainstream:9/10
Metal Scene and compared to old CoF albums: 6/10
thank you for reading this fucking review
peace
stay cool, never give up

this album is appauling i mean how much do they want to move into the mainstream. you could just about play this crap on bloody sesame street. dont get me wrong i have all there albums and loved the band for a long time but when i bought this album and put it on at home i put it up for auction on ebay. the same goes for damn nation and a day. if you want to listen to true c.o.f. listen to dusk... and crultey. but dont listen to this shit!

Cradle of Filth dissappoint me soooo much. they are now infected by the commerciality virus. The Midian album was the beginning of the end.

Yo, it's Joe!!!
It was pretty awesome! I loved Gilded Cunt and Swansong For A Raven. I, myself, have the special edition two-disc set, which is even better. It doesn't get much better than this!

i was extreemly dissapointed with this album, gilded cunt is the only highlight. , if gilded cunt was on damnation and a day, it would be the worst song on the album. the begining of mother of abominations is pretty good. otherwise, the album sucks some major fish balls.

Review by: shnaz

Quite possibly their pinnicle of selling out. The greatest part of the album is the vocals of Liv Kristine of Theatre of Tragedy. Its all so poppy and mainstream. Definite faggoth, they are no longer even close to being considered a BM band. The bonus CD was a little better, but not much.
