Raw, vehement, nocturnal. Black holocaust, uglier and more primitive than previous work. Possesses ineffable evil sense and demonstrates what true Norwegian black is meant to be. This album can not be surely recommended to ANY metalhead. It requires a blacksoul refinement of artistic perception and deep spiritual insight into the atmosphere of Dark Throne. Blackwoolves' dark delight!

This is one of the best black metal albums ever. Raw, cold, evil, perfect...despite of the production, but we all know that this is one of the things that makes this masterpiece special. I´m truly against those who think that black metal should be awfully produced but a single listening to this record is enough to admit that this is the atmosphere Fenriz & Co. wanted to turn this into a insane godkilling christ-raping norwegian black metal. Without it, this album wouldn´t be the same. Pure evilness. Hail Darkthrone.

This has to be one of the greatest black metal album ever. The songs are just perfect. The sound is like no other, very raw and cold. This is for people who like raw and unholy black metal. A pure and timeless classic.

Easily the best darkthrone album for mine. To walk the infernal fields, under a funeral moon and unholy black metal kick fucking arse.

Darkthrone's masterpiece Under Funeral Moon.
This album is the most evil, cold, grim album Darkthrone did. it has no a bad songs. all of them make u feel the evilness and the grimness, and if u understand this u'll know what's Darkthrone is all about. It's very raw and have evil melodies which make me shiver everytime i listen to it. it's fucking Unholy Black Metal! and this the black metal is supposed to be.

From start to finish the atmosphere in this is black and malevolent, very celtic frost / bathory influenced in sound with a fuzzy production this would have to be one of the greatest black metal releases ever, closely followed by the equally as good transylvanian hunger. darkthrone are the kings of black metal, and with albums as great as under a funeral moon it could be many years before the throne is taken over. natassja in eternal sleep could be the best song EVER

Yes this is Black Metal at its best. With the best darkthrone song "Inn I de Pype Skogen Favn". I can agree with everything that was already said and their is nothing more to say.

BEST FUCKEN TRUE UNHOLY BLACK METAL ALBUM!! that's it... no technical shit, just raw thrashy riffs and influences of old crust punk (just like true black metal is) with very dark and cold atmosphere, great work in the battery and ABSOLOUTELY excelent satanic poetry by Fenriz, this is the true Darkthrone that is dead right now (and thats how is gotta be) and people who know a lil bit about that past days should have the answer...

I prefer transylvanian hunger that I consider as the only masterpiece of darkthrone's discography.
This Under a Funeral Moon is a good album but i had to listen to it many times to like it really! the best songs are the fourth and the sixth but the most scaring thing is the bell at the end of Crossing the Triangle of Flames... what a fear!!!!
Hail Darkthrone

Antichristian manifesto and a constant hymn of glory to Satan. Music extremely simple sound like satanic punk-black metal. My Darkthrone's favoured album.

Darkthrone is one of my favourite bands and I really love their uncompromised style of black metal. The music on this album is simple and raw with Ted Skjellum's rusty vocalwork. There are some guitar solos but they don't sound very good because of the bad sound quality. The first six songs are magnificent but the last songs are way too boring. This album would've worked better with only six songs. The absolute stand out tracks are "Natassja In Eternal Sleep" (great lyrics on this one), "Summer Of The Diabolical Holocaust", "Unholy Black Metal" and "To Walk The Infernal Fields" (definitely the best song on the album). I give this black metal masterwork 8,5 points out of ten.

This is undoubtedly the COLDEST album I've ever heard. The sounds are generally quite simply composed and the tempo is quite slow for BM in general but its just so dam COLD. I don't know what else to say. Natassja in Eternal Sleep is my favorite track - "My beloved Satanic Witch!"

I like this album from Norwegian blackmetal hell.
This album is gloomy, in this hell is a hell dog and his messengers. They are getting death, and wars...

this great album is often regarded as the best or the most representative in darkthrone first period (what i called golden age)....I don't think so...it stands between a blaze and transylvanian, whose blinding black light, probably makes me undervalue it........another masterpiece in any case.............
darkthrone always strikes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Third album from Darkthrone where they could focus primarily on black metal,What you would expect from them, great true Norwegian BM.Anyone who like a blaze in the northern sky and/or transilvanian hunger will enjoy. But for some reason the 4th track 'Unholy black metal' has the exact same riff as 'under a funeral moon'...weird

Standout tracks 'Summer of the diabolical holocaust','Dance of eternal shadows','To walk the infernal fields' and 'Under a funeral moon'.

7.5/10

This album is often indicated as the best one by Darkthrone...I definitely don't agree...The turning into black metal here is complete, yes, but the album sounds worse than his precedessor (A Blaze in a northern sky, that is less cold but crasser) and his successor (transylvanian hunger, that is more cold 'n' depressive).
Anyway, another masterpiece...guitar sounds like breaking glass into your brain!!
