At that time Evoken was still very much deathmetal orientated doom, quite rough at the edges but already beginning to develop their own unique sound. Don't expect anything as well-balanced or refined as their more recent work, but this release is still great nonetheless. One of the biggest proofs of this is that I hardly ever noticed how short it really is, it's powerful enough to hold a candle to many other doom/death full albums.
