What happened to this band? I bought this record the day it came out. What can I say... it is sub-par. Way too amitious, way too artsy-fartsy, way too not inflames. Anders sounds so crappy with his constant clean voice, and all that damn synth... please let this be a nightmare. I love in flames, but i am going to ignore this album....

This album is stupid, non-melodicdeath, non-folk, non-inflames...
Unfortunately, we will not listen to an album like Jester Race anymore, and they will sell a lot of copies of this shit all around the world...

That's the way it goes, guys...
3/10

Hahah, this is hilarious. People first chastize them for not progressing their sound enough, and sounding too "same-y", and then when they DO change their sound, people are like "OMG!!! WHAT HAPPENED TO THE IN FLAMES THAT I KNOW??? THEY SHOULD GO BACK TO WHAT THEY WERE DOING BEFORE!!1"

Anyway, Reroute to Remain is a pretty cool album. It has a few weak tracks, yes, but the majority are quite good. I think one thing that brings this album down is Anders' voice. He should just stick to growls. His clean vocals are totally subpar (even though you do get used to them eventually).

Also of note is the artwork, which is easily the best I've seen from them yet.

I think they could do better than this!

well, I, again, have another opinion here. I think this is the best In Flames album up till now. Great songs, great structure, great lyrics, great everything...

Especially "Dawn Of A New Day" and "Metaphor" are really cool songs! I hope they will stay this way!

People always bitch and bitch about this album I thought it was real good. It was way better then Clay Man and I think they did a real good job on this album. I also think that Ander's clean vocals are pretty good he really adds feeling to the songs like System. But I don't know why people say they sold out or say they are Nu-Metal or even "Korn" Metal. It's nothing like Nu-Metal, it's Progressive Metal.

so much for the gothenburg sound see what a tour in support
of slipknot can do to a band sure its more coheasive but
if in flames make me buy another plastic peice of shit like this than i'm not proud to be an in flames fan. whear our the solos i mean thats the best thing about in flames or was
the best. lets drop the star wars queer trick bull shit
anders should know better so if this is an attempt to trade
your true fans for disposibel main stream ones it worked
more solos less ass fuck!!!

Well, R2R was something of a culture shock to many, but I really donīt see why. One could see this coming right from Clayman, anmd even before in Colony. Still, the album is excellent, only different. Is is not NU-Metal guys, it's just a different breed of death metal. The album opener, system, cloud connected, trigger, egonomic, freefall, black and white and Dark Signs are all excellent tracks. Anders vocals are not perfect, but they get the job done mostly 8though at times they become a bit shaky). This is an excellent album, it just requires an open mind.

Remember good music erradicates all nessecity for genres and.

Well, I really wasted my time and my money listen to this. I WAS a fan of in flames, one of the most powerful bands in the past. But people change, and some musicians prefer have lot of money than make good music. Please, dont buy it.

Reroute To Sellout is a more fitting title for this CD. What happened to there Swedish roots. Also I had to laugh when I was flipping though channels and saw that the horrible song Cloud Connected was on TRL. Finally the awful EP Trigger with a Genesis cover, thats worse than Behemoth doing a nine inch nails cover. I must say In Flamers are done, they remind me of metallicas downfall sellout career

what the fuck ? hey ! this album is good .. is not as good as the other ones .. but it is also good .. i don't know why people are saying that .. this is reroute to nu metal .. do you know what nu metal is ? i dont think so ...

Well...i thought this was better..i changed my opinion after hear more times the album and ... this is not the great IN FLAMES .. i was a big fan of them ... but ..unfortunately .. they "died"...

Review by: Wizard_Slayer

Well, it's obvious that the roots of In Flames have changed to a different style of music, but I still don't think that they suck either. They're still a good melodic metal band, maybe there really are some Nu-Metal influences, but there are still many great melodic parts and solos that really kick ass! And now some song descriptions...
The first song from the album's titled Reroute To Remain. Pretty cool melodies and kick ass solo, but you can obviously see the downfall from the previous release (Clayman [2000]). In System all instruments start to play at the same time, which is really energetic, but the song looses it's energy to the end. Third from the album is Drifter. The first harsh song with very good riffs and hard drum rhythms, vocals could be better though.. Solo at 2:15 is cool too, but really too short. Next one is Trigger, a known song from the videoclip and released self-titled EP. Good drum beats and again too short solos, the vocals could be better too. Well, actually I could describe the whole album this way: great drums, some wicked guitar riffs, cool melodies and vocals that could have been better. Cloud Connected is very similar to the first song from the album, Reroute To Remain. It's not a bad song, but nothing special about it again. Transparent is pretty harsh to and it fits into a category of songs that are slower.. again, some neat melodies. The seventh song, Dawn Of A New Day is the soft one from the album. Acoustic melodies and not so many harsh vocal growls. And then.... the killer of Reroute to Remain ... EGONOMIC! I was like WOOOW when I heard it the first time. Very quick and melodic song, typical In Flames style. There should have been more songs composed in this way during the band's future. A total 100% from this one. Egonomic is followed by Minus, a song with a great chorus.. The whole song is not too bad. Fuck, it's still not the end of it?! Hell no! Yeah, Reroute to Remain has fourteen songs (of conscious insanity :P). The band has really found a great sub-title for this release, 'cause it gives you a feeling of pure insanity... disillusions and so on. The last five numbers are Dismiss the Cynics, Free Fall, Dark Signs (has a great intro melody.. well all songs have that actually), Metaphor (which is a soft one too, close to the Dawn of a New Day, but even softer- a ballad). The last on the album is Black And White, a great conclusion found for this album.
It's not a bad album, but it's nothing special either. They deserve a higher rate than 50%, that's one thing that I'm positive about, but they don't deserve an excellent one.

Numetal? Hahahah.
I thought numetal was shit like Linkin park, Limp bizkit... but this stuff is fucking brutal. More than Slipknot, imo, and WAY more stilysh. So, I will clap for these Swedes, ask them to continue evolving like this and not rotting by playing the same schemes over and over, and stating one simple fact.

I don't understand why do people criticise a band for not evolving, and when they do, start trying to shit on their face.

Review by: razorhead

Well, it was about time In Flames finally died. But they didn't. They became LinkIn Flames. Not really, they are still better. So what? Making ballads just isn't right. At least they do the new songs very good when on tour.

Review by: fogforsaken

Basically, In Flames have always been good, and just because they make an album which sounds "different" from what they normally play, it doesn't mean that they suck or that they've sold out. It basically means that they wanna try something new and expand their horizons, not just stay in the same vat of music forever. They figured that they were getting too monotonous and moved on, no problem with that right? Fuck, this album is really good, so if anyone thinks that it sucks because of the reason that i've listed, then fuck off and try listening to music other the metal. In Flames do, and always have ruled.

Review by: MetallicOpeth

This album is excellent. It plays more like an album than any metal album outside of Opeth in the way the songs really meld into each other, logically progressing, ebbing and flowing to the point where you can look at the album as one really long song. A superb way of doing an album, reminiscent of Pink Floyd (but obviously much harder). Sure, it's a departure from the traditional Swedish black metal, but it's progressive, and, like the album title says, you have to reroute to remain in the music business. Just look at Godsmack. They released the same album three times (in essence), and they're losing all fan base, even those who liked their first album. In Flames shows yet again that they can push the envelope of traditional metal and turn it into something fresh and original. That's why their albums are well-known worldwide and other bands are left playing the same shit in underground clubs in their hometown.

"Sellout to Remain"-European trance meets washed up At the Gates-rip off thrash, looks some people needed money badly.

Review by: fosvart

c'mon this album diserves a lot more! it was the beginning of a new and more mature era for In Flames. even though I couldn't at first take it

Review by: vegan-in-black

this really IS their sellout cd PURE!!
i mean.. when a band should move to a more progressive sound,
ok there are some good ones on this cd, and i dont blame them for making money with their music.. who wouldnt want to make money out of his/her hobby?
BUT they may have moved on on some tracks.. while others were simply made for nirvana dread lock kids..
i was at a concert in munich once where they played with sepultura, and there were say 40 - 50 % teenie girls, stupid dread lock emos who stank like dead rats and they danced techno dances to stuff like cloud connected and free fall..
i dunno but i dont think they will bless us with another jester race or clayman.

sorry guys... you still are good, but youve attracted very gay fans
