This is Necromicon's debut album. They have an original sound, which is like a black metal band playing Swedish melodic death metal with keyboards and female vocals. In relation to Necromicon's other releases, the style on this album is between the demos and "Sightveiler". The keyboards and female vocals (which unfortunately are only featured on two tracks) really make this album a beautiful one. The last song, "Realm of Silence" is a very melancholic and ethereal song with the only vocals being the female ones. Other highlights are "Ages Unfold", which is also very sorrowful and emotional, and "In Blackened Robes", which includes some very satisfying female vocals. I like this album as much, if not more, than their next effort, "Sightveiler". This one is much more obscure and mysterious than that album, which gives it a good atmosphere. It is very hard to obtain a copy of this album, and I was lucky enough to get it used. If you happen to see it anywhere, get it or DIE.
