This ep has 3 tracks all of which truly standing the test of time-chemical warfare being a benchmark track which was back in 1984 claimed to be the fastest ever song.
the track haunting the chapel is a great song being fast and aggressive showing tom arayas clear vocal delivery which adds impact to the song.
captor of sin is a slower track but really displays the intensity of slayer even when they are not playing at full speed,a truly awesome ep-go buy it!!!!

This is actually the only Slayer album where I enjoy every single song. Show No Mercy definitely had its moments, but sounded too Judas Priest-ish at times; Hell Awaits was fucking morbid and truly epic but had some nice yawn-inducing filler; Reign In Blood was aggressive as Hell but lacked the morbidity factor; everything else after that raped the corpse of their once glorious past as far as I'm concerned. But on with the review...

Chemical Warfare: The most revered track on the EP, and rightfully so. Starting off with some machine gun riffing, tight, maniacal, and interesting drumming (Lombardo will never be matched - fuck that tedious fool Bostaph), and Tom Araya's catchy vocals, this is a nice epic war song to beat poseurs to.

Captor Of Sin: Gheheh, I've always loved how this song started out with the scream and then a nice long frenetic solo...very cool. Not much to be said here, it just needs to be experienced!

Haunting the Chapel: Definitely one of my favourite Slayer songs, and one which I feel receives too little attention (I have a sneaking suspicion that most people listen to Slayer for their more technical edge, which would explain why such a simple but MORBID song as this gets overlooked...ahh who cares - it's THEIR loss!). This is the reason why I worship early Slayer so much: this song has the sort of simple riffing, structure, and atmosphere that reminds me of early Celtic Frost, and the amusing, blasphemous Satanic lyrics that compel you to chant along with Tom's furious, maniacal vocal delivery inbetween headbanging runs. Well fuck, what else would you do with lyrics about destroying the chapel and desecrating all that is holy?!?! >:-) For me, this is by far the most entertaining Slayer song - a perfect example of how simple atmosphere and feeling presides over technical prowess. Fucking killer!!!

I really have nothing bad to say about this EP. I would have preferred a sharper guitar sound, but who fucking cares?! This album has earned an extremely high position in my collection, and it's really an essential recording.

A final word: Slayer needs to quit. I find it insulting that Diablows In Musica and God Hates Us All were released by the same band who gave us Haunting The Chapel and Hell Awaits. It's like they're only in this because the band keeps them out of a regular job and not because they feel like recording some blasphemous shit. The hell with them. I'll just sit in my room, play all the pre-Reign In Blood releases and pretend that none of this ever happened.

This is one of the greates EP's I've ever heard! "Chemical Warfare" was for a long time my absolute favourite-song, because of it's unbelievable speed.
"Captor of sin" and the title track aren't less good.

A true masterpiece!

Haunting the chapel is truly great. The only problem with it is the fact that its 4 songs for 12 bucks. Kind of ridiculous. But at the same time, the songs within this EP own so much that... well... its worth it. Chemical Warfare kicks your ass from beginning to end, you will be thoroughly smacked up by the time your done with that track, and haunting the chapel just... Murders you. The drumming on this album kicks ass as well, the echo... the speed... Fuck just listen to it. The other 2 songs on this EP are nothing to freak about, they are simple... nothing to splooge over. Get these tracks. They own beyond belief.

Chemical Warfare:

"Counts" on the throne must be watching from Hell
Waiting "no bastion of side"
Soldiers defeated by death "with the spell" xDDD
Bodies lie dormant, no life
Rising, "betook" with the lands where they fell
Demons are ready to die
"Laughing" to see where the sleeping souls lie

who wrote this lyric?? xDDDDDDDD
