A once-proud people, now brought to their knees
Their downfall created by their own hand, it seems

The end was coming quicker than foretold
The tears of young and old were heard throughout the land

Trapped in time and place
Just one hope remains
To trust to the heavens

Frozen in their tombs
To await the time
To be reborn

I have awakened

Whispers from beyond the veil
Shadows flickering on the wall

Places assuming unearthly aspect
Faces speaking unnatural words
Echoes of memories of the forgotten
Verses undying yet ever unheard

Whispers of voices unseen
Shadows of times long ago

Places assuming unearthly aspect

Which part is truth and which part is lies?

A tear in the fabric of time

In life we are beset by choices
Decisions that can never be undone

And when the words are written
Of me what will be said?
Through actions taken long ago
The thread of fate is spun

Carrying us on to the end

And when we look back on our lives
We harbour much regret
A time and place now lost to us
Blind to our lament

These are the last days of Elmet
Our proud forest home east of the hills
Ancestral home of the Brigantes
The last lands of the Britons

The Old North rose against its foes
But many died in battle
The dawn of our woes

Our mightiest warrior fell
Madoc was his name
And with him all hope has fled

Alas, at Caer Legion our last allies fell
Elmet stands alone, and time is running out

Ceredic cast down by Deiran men
Our lands fallen into shadow

"And until the end of the world, they will be honoured
And after joy, there was silence"


6. Brethren and Betrayer

Can one man stand alone?
And hold his ground against all foes?
Caught betwixt light and dark
His sacrifice reluctant and untold

Order us a cage, its bars he must break
Yet straying too far brings chaos in its wake

Order, Chaos, Balance
Order, Chaos, Prophecy

What is locked... can be opened
What is hidden... can be found

Moving in darkness, a hidden land
Unnatural stealth his shield
Forces of nature marshalled against him
And tyrants close behind

How dark an end to be chained by destiny
To have one's fate planned out
To see your choices stripped from you
And to become a pawn of obscure designs

Enslaved by...

Order, Chaos, Brethren
Order, Chaos, The Betrayer

Should he escape the deadly shadows
Of him nought will be said


7. The Wraith

Beyond our knowledge there is a lost place
And none who reach there will ever return

Here he stands
Stalwart protector of all his lands
Until the end
At his hand, enemies were vanquished
Until he could fight no more

The spirit endures... the body is weak

But his time was cut short
As his nemesis came
He fought bravely to the death
And died a hero
Saving the ones he loved

In this life
We get one chance
To let our name live on

Beyond our knowledge there is a lost place
And he who reached there can never return

A lone sentinel
Now guards this realm
Cursed to roam this plane
Never to feel the warmth of life
Yet ever to remain

The spirit endures... the body is weak

Ancients! Heed my cries!
I stand here, alone, in your stead
Ancients! I am here!
Broken - but loyal in death

Beyond the veil there is a kingdom
And the wraith who dwells there will never return

Let this give solace to all those who hear
That one's deeds prevail and live for all time
