The band has parted ways with their longtime singer / guitar player Peter Durst due to personal and musical differences, which have become unmountable. The band regards the matter closed
with this statement and is not going to reveal any further details upon this matter.
Basta, one of the new guitar players, is joining DARKSIDE after a previous cooperation with members of the band on the project "NOOHOORSH". He hails from Ceske Budejovice / Czech Republic
and his original band is czech trash monster COLP. The other new member in DARKSIDE is Luky, a young guitar player, who previously played in NEMA, an austrian black metal band.
DARKSIDE recently played two shows with ATROCITY and PAIN in Austria, and the reactions from both the crowd as well as from members of both bands were very positive.
DARKSIDE has also been signed to a new label, but in order to not to interfear with the label´s promotional work, until now, the band only reveals that it is a french label. The label will soon itself
reveal the signing of DARKSIDE in one of its upcoming newsletter.

After starting the production of the album "Cognitive Dissonance" and experiencing several problems, the band DARKSIDE and their drummer Bernd Pichlbauer parted ways. Both the band and the drummer stated
musical differences as the official reason, that the new drummer didn´t have the same influences and roots as the rest of the band.
Bernd has been replaced by former DARKSIDE drummer and founding member Robert Grögler as from now on.
The band would like to thank Bernd for his work with them over the past 11 months as he will stay in close contact with DARKSIDE for the time to come as well as he will start his own project..
The production of the new album has been interupted for about 2 months, after which the band will choose a studio for their recording together with their label NSM Records. (www.nsm.at)

DARKSIDE have just finished their preproduction for their upcoming album "Cognitive Dissonance".
They recorded 8 songs, amongst them "Cognitive Dissonance", "Pontifex 666", "Fifth"and "Caress Of
The Sleeping Giant".
The final recording session will take place at Hacienda Studio from May 13 on. DARKSIDE will record
12 tracks for the album so that the total running time will exceed 60 minutes this time. Among the
songs to be recorded are two cover versions. One is the Queensryche song "Someone Else", which the
band did for american DWELL records some time ago, but it will be a totally different version and
the other one will be a cover of MADONNA´s smash hit "Frozen". The band will also re-record a track
from their second album "Shadowfields" to be considered as a bonus track for a special limited
digipack edition which will be issued in 666 copies only !!!!! Anybody, who is interested in

DARKSIDE has been confermed for the MONSTERS OF METAL 2000 on June 10, in Vienna , Austria,
headlined by the Godfathers SLAYER. Other bands on the billing include Bay-Area Gods TESTAMENT,
power metal legend ARMORED SAINT and many more.

The band has recorded a cover version of Queensryche´s "Someone Else" for american DWELL RECORDS.
This also marked the first recording with their new drummer Bernd Pichlbauer. The band was joined
by Martina Hornbacher, known from her work with THERION, DREAMS OF SANITY and a project with Erik
Rutan called ALAS. DARKSIDE will record their new album "Cognitive Dissonance" in May at the
Hacienda Studio with producer DODO. The album should be out in September. The NOOHOORSH project of
members of DARKSIDE is also growing, Paste, the guitar player of czech trashers COLP, has joined
the team to record guitars on this conceptional output, which features a sci-fi story about
ancient sumer. Deather, well known cover artist from Czech Republic, is going to be resposible for
the graphical layout of the album, which will be released later this year. More names of people
involved in the NOOHOORSH project will surely attire even more attention!

DARKSIDE has recorded a cover version for american label DWELL RECORDS,
which is going to issue a MEGADETH tribute album soon. The track recorded by
DARKSIDE is "Go To Hell" of the "Hidden Treasures" album. The song was
recorded at Hacienda Studio in Czech Republic under the productional
surveillance of Milos Dodo Dolezal, who also added some additional guitars
to the track. Until now DWELL RECORDS have reserved the starting spot for
DARKSIDE´s song on the compilation.
DARKSIDE was supposed to play a show with SKULL CRUSHER, TORTHARRY,
UNDERTAKERS and APPALING SPAWN in Ceska Trebova on May22, but unfortunately
just before the band was going on stage, some bastard called to the police
to tell them, that there was a bomb in the hall. The police came and
complimented everybody out of the hall for two hours to search the whole
venue. "We are very sorry, about what happened and will try to play Ceska
TRebova as soon as possible again, oppose ignorance !!!!" some member of
DARKSIDE quoted after the announcement.
DARKSIDE has been confermed for the MIND OVER MATTER festival in Austria for
Friday, June 18 as well as for the Donauinselfestival on Sunday, June 27 and
the DYNAMO NORTH POWER JAM in Litomerice on Sunday, August 15. For more

police to announce that there was a bomb placed in the hall shortly before the beginning of DARKSIDE´s
show. DARKSIDE will try to play Ceska Trebova as soon as possible again. Now we are a part of czech rock

DARKSIDE have played several gigs with AMORPHIS in May in their homecountry Austria.
PAVEMENT MUSIC has released DARKSIDE´s second album "Shadowfields" in the USA. There are already
negotiations about the latest release "Evolution" in the making for a possible release of the album still
in 1999. Also NECROPOLIS Records have placed their interest in DARKSIDE and offered the band a possibility
to play the MILWAUKEE METAL festival in the end of June. A participation of DARKSIDE in that festival will
very much depend on the financial situation of the band.
For all who would like to check out UNDERTAKERS again, brutal death grind from Naples, Italy. The band will
play a show togther with DARKSIDE and SKULL CRUSHER as well as INGROWING and ISACAARUM in Jindrichuv Hradec
on Friday, 25 June. The band will stay in Czech Republic for 14 days to record their new album at Hacienda
Studio with producer Dodo Dolezal, having a predeal with NSM Records for the release. The band just released
a live compilation of their material.
DARKSIDE is going to play some shows in Southern Italy at the beginning of July. The band will try to take
director David B. to those shows in order to record another videoclip for one of their recent songs in
locations like Naples, Capri, Pompeji and Cuma. The trip has been organized together with UNDERTAKERS from
Naples.
DARKSIDE and SKULL CRUSHER have both recorded one track for a MEGADETH compilation album on DWELL RECORDS
(US). Both tracks were recorded at Hacienda Studio with producer Dodo. SKULL CRUSHER, whose album "Tormented"
shall be out soon on NSM Records, have recorded a live version of "Take No Prisoners", whereas DARKSIDE did
a cover of "Go To Hell". The album is supposed to be out during the summer.The artwork was done by famous
czech artist Deather and will simply shock.
DARKSIDE will start to lay down the basic tracks for their next album, tentatively entiteled "Cognitive
Dissonance", at the end of June under the productional surveillance of Dodo at Hacienda Studios, Czech
Republic. This next album will be a double CD featuring one disc containing the whole Noohoorsh story, and
a second disc with a regular new album as well as some rarities. The whole thing is planned to be out in
Spring 1999. Watch out for a release due to the start of a new millenium !!!
DARKSIDE have deleted their plan to record the mini-album "Cognitive
Dissonance" and have started to work on their next full-length album right
away. The next Cd will be hopefully a double Cd album, with one "regular"
record with twelve new songs and a second Cd, which will feature the whole
"Noohoorsh" story. "Noohoorsh", which second part was already featured on
the "Shadowfields" album, is a conceptional fictive story and will have the
length of approximately 55 minutes. It will be divided in different cuts, to
make it easier for the listener, but it will be strictly conceptional. The
title of the whole album is not definite now, but could be "Sweet
Suffering". The release is planned definitely before the year 2000, which
means at the latest November 1, 1999. There will be several guests featured
on the "Noohoorsh" story, but it is to early to name them. The "Cognitive
Dissonance" material will probably be contained on the other Cd then, or
will be released later. Although the band is conscious of the difficulties
this release will have, all members of the band definitely want to release
this project as a 2Cd set due to their opinion to give the people worth for
their money. Expect a work due to the end of the millenium by all means !

The song "The Gloaming" has been for unbelieveable 18 weeks on the
"Fasaparada" of RADIO NITRA / Slovakia with redactor Raymond Kana. The
radios name has now changed to RADIO HVIEZDA-FM. Although being a former
communist country, no other band ever had one song longer in the parade than
DARKSIDE.
NUCLEAR BLAST features Darksides' first videoclip "The Gloaming" on their
videocompilation "Beauty In Darkness 3" amongst other bands like THERION,
MOONSPELL, HIM, FIELDS OF NEPHILIM and SUNDOWN. The videoclip was directed
by czech director David Beranek, who recently did a full-length concert
feature of the band TRISTANIA for NAPALM RECORDS.
DARKSIDE will play a tour with austrian death metal purists SKULL CRUSHER
and czech deathers TORTHARRY in March 1999. Dates and venues will be
released soon on these pages.
Former DARKSIDE record label, SYSTEM SHOCK, has released together with
PAVAMENT MUSIC a compilation Cd which features amongst bands like MALEVOLENT
CREATION, VADER, EVOKE and more also DARKSIDE with a song from their first
album. "Pictures In Grey" , the name of the song, is probably the most
commercial song DARKSIDE ever did.
POPRON music, the czech label, who has a license for DARKSIDEs album
"Evolution" has released a compilation called "Rockova naloz", which
features DARKSIDE with their song "The Gloaming". Other bands on this
compilation are KRABATHOR, MALEVOLENT CREATION, ARAKAIN and many more.
Czech magazine SPARK puts out a special X-mas edition of their mag called
SPARK Poster Gallery, which features DARKSIDE on the Cd-compilation with
their song "Evolution ?", the title track of their most recent album
"Evolution" (NSM007).
